I began a collaboration with The Brooklyn Circus, aka the BKc, six years ago with John Midgley, a friend of mine and a very talented Photographer. John is a master with lighting and even more masterful in his ability to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera. Ouigi Theodore is the awe inspiring founder, keeper of the faith, and ring leader of the BKc. “We are here to tell a story of style throughout American history and emphasize the power of presentation. We want to change the way Americans dress, one iconic silhouette at a time.” [-Ouigi] Our subjects have always been the focus – good friends, talented strangers, Brooklyn neighbors, wise old men, and spirited coming-of-age kids.  This season we photographed three sets of twins. They spoke in tandem, finished each other’s sentences, and expressed an incredible intimacy with one another. It offered us a peek into their complex and powerful relationships. Each subject has a point of view, a voice in their world, and a powerful presence. As Ouigi states, “The BKc is ultimately about community.”

This story features the styling by FiftyTwo45 artist, Scott Newkirk. The images were taken by Photographer John Midgley. The Brooklyn Circus was created by Ouigi Theodore.
