FiftyTwo45 Influencer, Andi Eaton visited the Ona Rex workspace in Nashville where she sat down with designer and owner, Ashley Balding, to ask her a bit about herself, the ever growing and changing city of Nashville, and what it means to be an Ona Rex gal.

“A city that’s mostly known for it’s music, Nashville has a new movement, and it’s in the world of fashion. As someone who’s worked with designers and artists for the duration of my career I find myself fully inspired by the independent design community that’s effervescing in music city. Recently I had an opportunity to visit the studio of Ashley Balding, the designer behind the women’s wear line Ona Rex.

Ashley hand paints and dyes each of her fabrics in small batches, and shares a work space with weaver Allison Volek-Shelton (of Shutters and Shuttles) and designers Hannah Jones and Jamie Frazer (of Jamie and the Jones). As Ashley prepared for Nashville Fashion Week, she gave me a tour of her space, shared a bit about her process and answered questions about the design community in Nashville, her daily rituals and who the Ona Rex girl is.”   – Andi Eaton
